Every Beautiful Thing—No. 3

It’s been a minute. A very long minute. And life has been life-ing. Nonetheless, I am here. I am blessed.

So, Let’s catch up—on all things joy, lessons, and the reflections made along the way!

  1. The Soft Life. I have seen this trending as of recently and I deeply resonate with the lifestyle. Romanticizing my life is not solely about changing the way it looks, but about changing the way it feels while navigating through the complexities of it all. Now, as a lover of words, I’ve been searching for a word more suitable than “soft” to better fit my life & desires for a life well-lived. And, I believe fragrant is it. I’ll elaborate more in a later post! That’s the word for me.

  2. Take all the time you need while healing. At times that may look like taking a step back from everything and everyone—to go inward and process your thoughts, reassess your priorities, declutter the space around you, and dispose and/or let go of that which no longer aligns with who you’re evolving into, to essentially get back to being your best self. Also note, that while on the journey of healing, it is ok to take a break from doing the work healing takes. Healing is some deep, and sometimes down right ugly, work. I know it! Take a break from the inward work to have some outside fun. Make room for the good things, people, moments happening in your life! Pour back into yourself, by celebrating often. Showing up for yourself, sets the foundation for how you show up for everything else around you.

  3. Arranging flowers is one of my favorite pastimes & has easily become something that brings instantaneous joy and peace to my environment. I’ve recently found interest in learning more about floral design—learning to make bouquets & arrangements, along with the business of floristry. With the help and kindness of Tobore, owner of Los Angeles floral design studio, The Petal Effect, and Taheerah, owner of Las Vegas floral design shop, Flowers by Design—Jatcoia, I’ve received quite a bit of insight and some tips to push my floral ideas into the world. So, soon you will have another go-to for florals. Me!✨💐

  4. Book the trip! (Insert clapping emojis in-between each word lol). Stop waiting on the confirmation of others to enjoy yourself. Last week, I noticed some of my favorite artists/musicians (Robert Glasper, Black Thought, Derrick Hodge, Jill Scott, Lucky Daye—just to name a few) would be performing for a Juneteenth celebration. The next day I booked a ticket, with no hesitation. Lol! I spent less than 24-hours in LA, visiting all my new go-to restaurants/hang-out spots, meeting dope people, and just enjoying my time. The concert?! So much fun. The music?! So live. The energy?! Contagious. I love us lol. Live the life you desire right now, without waiting for a special occasion! Do it now!

  5. Last year, I bought my first film camera—Canon EOS. Yesterday, I went to get the film developed…and, I must say, I’m so impressed! I can’t wait to purchase more film and travel the world with my lens. I’m going to share some of the scans at the end! ✨☺️

  6. I’m at a space in my life where I do not care to pretend—not for anyone or anything! In saying that, I mean, if in any way, shape, or form, it requires me to operate as anyone outside of my truest self or to alter my feelings/ thoughts/emotions to make others comfortable, I DO NOT HAVE ROOM FOR IT. Nor am I making room to be around any forced energy. That’s it. That’s all.

  7. My desire is to live a life so beautiful that it doesn’t require convincing. Just live and enjoy all the things God has blessed me with, move with ease and intention, live slowly, taking it all in, be at my truest & most authentic self, love well, and be well-loved.

  8. This February I was a apart of a live recording for a sister-friend’s church, and it was such a beautiful gathering. June 22nd, we released two singles that are now available to stream on all platforms! You can click here to start listening!

  9. It’s okay to grieve what you hoped for, that didn’t go as you imagined and/or planned. Navigating loss, while celebrating the small victories in between can be tough. They are your victories, nonetheless. Know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be & far from where you used to be. Press some love into the cracks and count it all joy.

  10. Become more radical about your faith! What you desire in life, does indeed exist. God has a plan & a purpose just for you! And for some, you’ve already been given a glimpse of it! Learn to trust exactly how God is leading you & where He is requiring you to grow, so that you may have the capacity to hold & enjoy the blessings!

Take what you need. This is for you. For me. For us. Love on.
