21-Days of Prayer—No. 1

I have intentionally—and slowly—been moving through the first few months of this year—by placing my focus on my creativity, my loved ones, and my health. The other day as I was watching a YouTube video of a fitness influencer, sharing the ups and downs of her fitness journey, she said something that clicked in my mind:

“You don’t have to feel 100% ready to do something, in order to produce something.”

It made me reflect on how it applies to life overall. Very often our body will crave change and/or movement, but our mind doesn’t agree to it. So, we don’t move. This is exactly what fear looks like.

We think we must wait until we’re financially ready, more prepared, educated, confident, safe/secure, motivated, knowledgeable, etc. to begin. The job of fear is to make us question whether we’ll ever be ready or if the timing is right. Those feelings come to make us feel small and inadequate of accomplishing all we desire to do and are capable of doing. I know this for myself.

Fear has tried it’s best to hold onto me—which also held onto the things I know I’ve been called to pour out into the world. And if we wait until we feel ready, we may always be waiting. Fear either causes you to shrink or it activates a position of courage within. Choose the latter! You already have what it takes and are fully equipped and capable of producing with what you have.

This reflection helped me get clear and more intentional about how I’m showing up for my health and creativity. Lean on what you know, more than what you feel. Feelings are fleeting. The gift and/or vision God has given you (for any area concerning your life) is certainly good—as is everything that comes from Him. Now is as good a time as any to trust God & go for it. So, push past fear. You don’t know what you can do until it’s done.

Prayer no. 1 — Fear

Great God,

Thank you for reminding me that fear can take no residency in my life. Today, I lay my fears and worries at your feet. I speak power and love into, and over, every area of my life that fear wants to dwell. Help me to confront fear and replace it with courage. Courage to lean on you and to depend on you alone. Help me to trust what you have given me and have called me to do. Knowing that I do not have to feel ready in order to produce, help me to trust that what you have given me is already enough. Calm my mind with your peace and your love. I trust you. I thank you. I love you. Amen!

this is for you, for me, for us. xo, Aja
